The name Jabsco brings together the first letters of the inventors and adds ‘Co’. The Jabsco Pump Company was founded in Burbank, California. The first pump design originated in 1938.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

SUCTION

When the impeller rotates and the blades have passed the eccentric, the blades once again straighten out and the volume of the cell is increased. Thus a partial vacuum is created which allows the atmospheric pressure to push liquid into the pump. Because the blades form an almost perfect seal they permit the conveyance of air.

Transfer into the Pump

The Impeller continues to turn and in this way transports a constant volume of liquid.

Discharge from the pump

When the impeller blades reach the other side of the eccentric, the chamber volume decreases allowing the liquid to be pressed into the discharge port.

This process, which is repeated several thousand times per minute, thus generates a continuous and regular discharge rate.

CHARACTERISTICS

Dry Self-Priming
The pump can be mounted above the tank. There is a suction of up to 5m without the need for a foot valve or for fluid reserves. It suctions the last liter. No product residues remain. There are also no fluid residues which could contaminate the next batch.  It has excellent suction capacity with a vacuum of more than 600 mbar.

Pulsation free flow
Gentle and even flow without pressure peaks. Consistent performance output for filling, dispensing and coating. Even pressure guarantees efficient filtration.

Conveys liquids of low viscosity
Impeller pumps operate across a large speed range. The lowest speed range conveys the highest viscosity. The pumps are suitable for viscosities up to 50,000 mPa s. The extremely gentle conveyance guaranteed the minimum damage to sensitive products such as gels, pastes, protein suspensions and foodstuff sauces.

Conveyance of Solid Substances in the Product
Soft solids such as pieces of fruit and chopped-up vegetables are conveyed without any significant damage. Hard solids such as nuts, seeds and crystals are conveyed without them blocking the pump. Even foreign objects such as loose screws, welding residues and fruit stones generally do not damage the pump.

No air pockets or foam build-up
The principle of the positive displacement pump prevents the formation of air or gas bubbles which could lead to the disruption of the flow rate. The gentle transportation of the liquid prevents the emulsification or foaming of the liquid.

Low Maintenance Costs
Wear and tear is minimized because there are few movable parts. Spare parts are available at minimal cost. Installation is simple and can also be handled by inexperienced personnel.

Compact and Versatile Design
Extremely high performance output when compared to other types of pumps of the same size. These pumps take up less space, therefore installation is simplified. Flexibility is characteristic of the assembly of the pumps and of the pipe connections.

Jabsco Impeller pumps are manufactured from chemically stable materials:

Neoprene
Maximum durability (4 – 80°C)

Foodstuff-Neoprene
Design according to US 3-A Standard and FDA (4 – 65°C)

Nitrile
Excellent durability in oils (10 – 90°C)

EPDM
Well suited for high temperatures and CIP-cleaning. Foodstuff quality according to US 3-A Standard and FDA (0 – 120°C)

Viton®
Good chemical stability, but lower performance and shorter life cycle (10 – 90°C)
